Hamilton star David Moyo: Potentially sending Motherwell bottom is massive incentive

David Moyo admits the opportunity to potentially send Motherwell bottom of the Premiership is a "massive incentive" for Hamilton in this afternoon's derby.

The Accies striker knows if Accies win today and Ross County beat St Johnstone, it would see rock bottom Hamilton not only leapfrog their big rivals but potentially send them to the foot of the table - just days after Stephen Robinson resigned as 'Well boss.

Moyo, who netted a derby winner at this stage of the season last year in a 2-1 win at Fir Park, said: "That's a massive incentive.

"It's a big derby game and the aim is always to win.

"It feels like we are picking up a bit of momentum so hopefully we can keep that going.

"We'll look to capitalise on how things have been going for Motherwell and pick up three points.

"We approach every game the same and [Motherwell not having a manager] doesn't make a difference to us, we've just got to go out and show what Hamilton are all about.

"Everyone loves winning derby games."

Brian Rice's side go into the clash with an unbeaten record in their last three derby outings, and off the back of a gritty 0-0 draw at St Johnstone on Wednesday.

It leaves Accies a point adrift of 11th place Ross County, but just six points separate bottom spot from seventh so a run of results could see them shoot up the table.

Moyo added: "The draw on Wednesday gave everyone a lift. That's four points in a week we've picked up so you can't complain worth that.

"That is good form and a win would put us in a good place.

"There's a lot of hard work that goes into it and credit to the boys, we've got some good results in the last few weeks and they deserve a pat on the back for that.

"We want to start climbing that table.

"If we can get some wins back-to-back it can put us in a good position.

"It's important for the club to get a result and get off the bottom of the league."
