Hamilton Square was transformed with a spectacular light, colour and sound projection tonight with Animated Square .
The 3D projection show is the highlight of the festival launched to celebrate Wirral ’s year as Borough of Culture for Liverpool City Region.
The 15 minute projection, which saw Birkenhead Town Hall light up, captured Birkenhead’s people, places and history - and how Wirral has made its mark on the world.
The projection show was created by award-winning Illuminos, who spent time in the borough to uncover stories about Birkenhead ’s past, present and future which they could weave into the light and sound display.
Hamilton Square burst to life tonight with street theatre and stunning illuminations from the Lantern Company - and even circus performances from Bring the Fire - to celebrate.
Alongside the entertainment and concessions stalls, crowds were treated to a pyrotechnics show throughout Animated Square’s stunning projections.
Animated Square was first seen last year as part of Wirral’s Tall Ships celebrations, attracting thousands of people to Hamilton
Square.
