Hamilton's St Mary's takes primary schools' swimming prize

St Mary’s Primary School in Hamilton won the Hamilton District Primary School Swimming Gala at Larkhall Leisure Centre on Friday, April 26.

Well done to Dean Barghati, who won gold in 50m freestyle, while Matthew Lees won silver in 50m breaststroke and Michael Kelly who won silver in 25m breaststroke.

Bronze medals went to Cameron O’Donnell in freestyle and Darragh Tammaro in breaststroke.

The boys’ relay team of Dean Barghati, Matthew Lees, Johnnie Carrigan and Darragh Tammaro won gold.

The mixed relay team of Dean Barghati, Matthew Lees, Martha Carrigan and Isla Wardle won bronze.

A school spokesperson said: “Well done to our 18 finalists, and thanks very much to Hamilton Baths Amateur Swimming Club and head coach Ann O’Neill for organising the event.

“A big thank you also to Mrs Barghati and Mrs Lees for organising the St Mary’s team.”
