Hamilton's clash with St Mirren in doubt amid more Covid chaos

Hamilton Accies' match at St Mirren on Saturday is in serious doubt after the Paisley side reported a fourth coronavirus outbreak.

The Paisley club - already reeling from a Covid outbreak that forced the postponement of their game against Motherwell last Saturday - are believed to have confirmed to authorities that three players and a member of Jim Goodwin's backroom staff have tested positive in the last 24 hours.

St Mirren are reportedly holding urgent talks with NHS track and trace teams ahead of the Premiership clash with Hamilton.

The Scottish Professional Football League are already holding an investigation into why Saints were left with just eight available outfield players for the game against Motherwell last weekend which was called off at 12.30pm.

A club insider said that St Mirren had increased testing numbers this week to include youth players in order to boost squad numbers and avoid another call-off.

In September these two clubs were affected by Covid-19 when St Mirren goalkeeper Jak Alnwick tested positive and that forced Hamilton's Lee Hodson to self-isolate, as he lodges with him.

Last week Saints were hit for a third time when a number of first-team players were ordered to self isolate following positive tests.
