Hamilton Rugby Club player tests positive for Covid-19

Hamilton Riugby Club have reported that a senior player has tested positive for Covid-19.

All rugby and hospitality at the Laigh Bent club have been suspended immediately until further notice, and the club report that the player is doing well.

Hamilton, under the guidance of Covid safety co-ordinator Alan Clisby, acted immediately and have been in contact with NHS Lanarkshire and Scottish Rugby, and will continue to work closely with these organisations throughout this period.

Head coach Alex Edmonstone has been in constant contact with the player and he is doing well.

The Covid-19 response group met on Monday evening and have made the decision to suspend all rugby and hospitality services at the club with immediate effect until further notice. This will allow a robust risk assessment to take place, thereby ensuring the health, safety and wellbeing of all our staff, players, members and volunteers.

Any player affected by this has been contacted and signposted to guidance issued by NHS Scotland to self-isolate.
