Hamilton rebuilding will start as soon as the play-off is decided, says head coach Brian Rice

Brian Rice will start the process of rebuilding his Hamilton squad as soon as their Premiership fate is decided.

Accies go into a crucial clash with St Mirren in Paisley on Monday, with a draw or better securing their top-flight status.

Head coach Rice says he has ideas about what he wants to do, and will start as soon as he can.

He said: “I’ve got plans in my head, I know exactly what I want to do.

“Obviously what division we’re in will dictate what we can and can’t do, but I have ideas and plans ready to go.

“It never stops, it’s ongoing all the time, 24 hours every day.”

Hamilton beat Dundee 1-0 to relegate the Taysiders and open up a four-point gap over Saints, going into their showdown.

Rice said: “I want the fans to enjoy the win over Dundee, for the players to enjoy it, and I want them to come back in to training with a focus on the next game, but most importantly that was for the fans.

“I think in the second half there were little bits of how I want my team to play next season, and maybe a couple of seasons on, if I’m still here.

“I thought some of the stuff that we produced in the second half was as good as I have seen since I’ve been here.”
