Hamilton police raid uncovers cannabis farm worth estimated street value of £269,400

Police in Hamilton have recovered a large cannabis cultivation worth an estimated street value of £269,400, following an intelligence-led operation.

Search warrants were executed at two flats in Quarry Street on Monday, April 26.

Officers discovered a large quantity of cannabis plants in both properties during this week's raid.

Constable John Tennyson from Larkhall Police Station said: “This was a significant recovery and enquiries are ongoing to trace the person or persons responsible.

“Drugs can have a devastating impact on communities and we would continue to encourage members of the public to support our efforts to tackle this issue.

“Any intelligence received about drugs activity will be thoroughly investigated and information can be reported to Police Scotland through 101. Alternatively you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."

The news comes after police in Glasgow discovered heroin, cocaine and herbal cannabis worth £273,000 during a raid on a property in Johnstone yesterday during an intelligence-led operation.
