Hamilton Police help to run pop-up foodbank during festive period

Big-hearted police officers from Hamilton have teamed up with the town’s foobank to help those in need over the festive period.

Officers from Hamilton Local Policing Team worked in partnership with Hamilton District Food Bank, Community Links and South Lanarkshire Council, as part of their ongoing Burnbank Initiative, to set up a foodbank in the area.

Members of the public who required assistance are invited to collect a food parcel among other necessary items from Gilmour Church.

The foodbank runs all this week between 11am and 3pm, Monday to Friday, and has been well received within the community.

No social work referral is needed to access the facility.

PC Danielle O’Hara said: “Everyone who has donated and helped out with this initiative has been amazing.

“We would like to express our thanks to Morrisons, Lightbody - Finsbury Food Group, Tunnocks, McColls, Scottish Fire and Rescue, local businesses in the Burnbank area and members of the Gilmour Church and local community for their donations and support which we have been completely overwhelmed by.”
