Hamilton Park have revealed a new partnership that will see the racecourse’s most historic race meeting change its name.
The newly named Phoenix Utilities Ltd Lanark Silver Bell Racenight takes place on Friday, August 27, with two races from the seven-race card newly supported by the East Kilbride firm.
And that includes the highly anticipated feature race of the day, the historic Lanark Silver Bell Handicap.
The Silver Bell is one of the most ancient Racing Trophies in Britain, many believing the Bell to have been gifted from King William ‘The Lion’ of Scotland in approximately 1165, which would make the trophy the oldest in the world.
Vivien Currie MBE, chief executive at Hamilton Park, told Lanarkshire Live : "We are absolutely delighted to have Phoenix Utilities Ltd join us as new sponsors.
"Historic racing is the focus of our last Friday evening meeting of the season with the Lanark Silver Bell the highlight of a great night’s racing."
The August meet will be the 13th running of the Lanark Silver Bell Handicap at Hamilton Park, considered one of the richest races of its type in the UK.
Phoenix Utilities chief executive Kenny Nicol added: "We are honoured to be sponsoring such a historic event and we are looking forward to a fantastic night’s racing, shared with clients and colleagues."
Away from the track, legendary DJ George Bowie returns for another set of his exhilarating GBX Anthems after the night’s racing.
Gates open at 2.30pm with racing action getting underway at 4.35pm.
