Hamilton new boy Danny O'Reilly still buzzing from side's perfect goal as he eyes Partick result

Dan O'Reilly says Accies scored the perfect goal on his debut for the club - and it's been replayed plenty of times around the club as they look to get one over Partick Thistle today.

After last week's impressive 3-0 win away to 10-man Queen of the South, Hamilton welcome the Jags Thistle to New Douglas Park for O'Reilly's home debut and he knows the club will be determined to avenge a 6-1 defeat the last time the sides met in South Lanarkshire.

The defender is still buzzing from Accies' silky third goal against the Doonhamers, in which a sweeping one-touch passing move from one end of the pitch to the other led to Josh Mullin finishing off a fine team goal.

O'Reilly is aware it won't be like that every week at Accies, but he knows his team-mates will be keen to make amends for their last home outing with the Jags.

The Accies new boys said: "It was nice [watching that goal back]. I've seen it a lot of times now.

"When you are on the pitch and it happens, you think it was a really good goal.

"But when you actually watch it and think how many people touched the ball, the way it was moved about, it's really well-structured.

"The awareness of everyone to know where each other are, and even the unselfishness of Shiels to square the ball at the end, it was a perfect goal really.

"It was a really good performance and a good win. Obviously the red card did help, but sometimes that can make it more difficult.

"The pressure is on you but I thought we handled ourselves really professionally.

"Getting a clean sheet and getting into things was really good, but I know it won't be like that every week and we've got another big game.

"I wasn't here for then [for the 6-1 defeat to Partick] but I know from previous games I've been in when you've been battered, it's always at the back of your mind that you want to have a reaction.

"At the end of the day, it's only three points but for the fans you want to show that it really hurt and I'm sure the players will have felt like that so we'll want to get the three points.

"We will want to put on another good performance and the result should take care of itself."

The 26-year-old Irishman has impressed at his previous clubs in his homeland, winning the fans' player of the year awards during spells with Drogheda and Finn Harps.

And he hopes to build just as strong a rapport with the Accies faithful.

He added: "It's important to build a good relationship with the fans.

"If you do your business on the pitch I think that will take care of itself.

"Most places I've been, fans just want you to give 100 per cent, show a bit of thanks to them when they come to support you home and away.

"If you are playing well as well then that's going to help."
