Hamilton must start earning big wins over SWPL 1 rivals says head coach

Hamilton Women’s head coach Gary Doctor admits his side have been left playing catch-up after dropping points in vital games.

Accies are bottom of SWPL 1 after a loss to Hearts last month and aren’t back in action until December 12 against Aberdeen, who are ninth in the 10-team division.

Hearts are also in the bottom half, as are Spartans, who Hamilton drew with in November.

Doctor says his side can’t afford to drop points against teams around them in the fight to remain in the league.

He said: “The last few games we have played and the one we play before Christmas against Aberdeen are ones against teams around us.

“We have worked our way through the pro teams and we believe these games are winnable – the other teams will feel the same, however.

“You might not win every one and you might not even get points in every one.”

Hamilton’s last four games have yielded very little for Doctor’s side, with 1-0 defeats against Hearts and Hibs, and 2-2 draws with Spartans and Partick Thistle.

Doctor said: “We’ve had only two points out of these games and that is disappointing. I do think we have merited more and it’s a source of frustration.

“We don’t like looking up the way all the time and having that concern over how we are going to claw this back.”
