Hamilton MP Angela Crawley tackles Boris Johnson during stormy Brexit debate

As MPs returned to work yesterday Hamilton MP Angela Crawley got her chance to call out the Prime Minister.

The Lanark and Hamilton East representative spoke out against Boris Johnson’s Brexit plans in the House of Commons.

She stated: “The majority of my constituents did not vote for Brexit.

“Scotland did not vote for Brexit. This Government have no mandate in Scotland.

“This Prime Minister has no mandate in Scotland. The fact is that he has no respect for the constitution or rule of law, so why should Scotland not vote to leave this Union?”

However the PM hit back.

Mr Johnson said: “I remind the honourable lady that more people in Scotland voted for Brexit than for the SNP.”

Parliament resumed on Wednesday after the Supreme Court ruled that it should not have been suspended.

The UK’s highest court ruled the PM’s decision to suspend Parliament for five weeks was unlawful. Its decision was unanimous, ruling that the prorogation was null and void, and therefore Parliament had not been prorogued.
