Hamilton fans are loving the fact that the hit musical is now available to watch on Disney+.
Fusing the musical styles of pop Broadway tunes and hip-hop, it tells the story of Alexander Hamilton, a key figure during Revolutionary times who masterminded the US banking system.
The show proved a huge hit with audiences when it debuted in 2015, and transferred to London’s West End in 2017.
To celebrate its release on Disney’s streaming service, writer and lead star Lin-Manuel Miranda live tweeted along with a viewing of the film on Friday night (3 July).
Throughout the evening, he shared some behind-the-scenes facts about the musical, as well as his own views on some of its biggest moments.
Interestingly, one tweet saw him reveal which line makes him the most emotional.
“The line that breaks me the most: Angelica: ‘Near you.’ Forever,” he told his followers.
In the musical, Renée Elise Goldsberry plays Angelica Schuyler, who is Hamilton’s sister-in-law.
The film was shot over three days at the Richard Rodgers Theatre in New York on 26, 27 and 28 June 2016, shortly before Miranda stepped down from the lead role.
