Hamilton 'keen' on Drogheda United star as Accies eye Irish reinforcement

Hamilton Accies are interested in 26-year-old Drogheda United defender Daniel O'Reilly, according to reports.

The Irish Independent claim that the New Douglas Park club are 'keen' on the centre-back after his successful League of Ireland season.

Managed by former Motherwell defender Tim Clancy, the Drogs finished seventh in last year's Irish top flight.

Taylor knows the scene across the water well after a spell as manager at Limerick.

O'Reilly was with Fulham as a youngster and he's also turned out for Longford Town, Finn Harps, Bray Wanderers and Shelbourne.

Ireland has been used as a transfer hotspot by Scottish clubs in recent seasons, Motherwell signing attacking midfielder Ross Tierney from Bohemian ahead of the January transfer window.

St Mirren are also keen on the Irish market after snapping up star midfielder Jamie McGrath and defender Conor McCarthy from Dundalk and Cork City.

Taylor's side return to action this week in Scottish Cup third round action against West of Scotland Football League Premier Division side Auchinleck Talbot.
