Brian Rice says Hamilton’s 3-3 draw at home to Livingston has given him plenty to think about ahead of their showdown with Dundee.
While the Accies head coach says his side showed a lot of character to fight back and claw back a point against Livingston, he knows they shouldn’t have been in that position in the first place.
He said: “I can’t question their attitude, effort and commitment, but we lacked a wee bit of savvy there at 2-0.
“We got the second goal with the penalty but then lost our way. Good teams don’t lose their way, that’s something I need to look at.
“There were a couple of individual errors, the third goal was a deflection, there’s nothing we can do about that, but we kept going and that point might well be the vital point that we need.
“For 60-65 minutes we were absolutely different class.
“We were on the front foot, making chances, getting balls into the box, everything I asked of them, but then we lost a sloppy goal, lost our way for 15-20 minutes and went behind.
“But the spirit they showed to come back again, the never-say-die attitude, was brilliant.”
Despite a nine-point gap between themselves and Dundee, Rice is taking nothing for granted.
“I’ve said before that it’s a three-horse race and it still is. Dundee are still in there, and we’re still leading that.
“It’s now a case of another point, another game out the way, and now I need to prepare for Dundee.”
