A Hamilton gymnast has raised almost £1500 for charity as he gets set to take on an ambitious challenge.
Ryan Nicholson, 9, will attempt to complete 5000 circles over his pommel in a seven-day period from March 1 to 7, and has so far raised £1415 for Epilepsy Scotland on Just Giving.
The charity is a poignant one as Ryan was diagnosed with epilepsy in 2018, but hasn’t let it hold him back.
Coach Shona Grigor (also pictured) says she is proud of Ryan’s efforts and is confident he will succeed.
She said: “Ryan has exceeded all expectations with the fundraiser. It’s a remarkable feat, he’s gone well over what he thought he would get.
“It’s quite a tough challenge, it’s a lot of endurance, but I think he will be easily able to do it.
“Ryan has been incredible and I think it’s really great for him to go out there and do his best to spread the word on it.”
