Hamilton crash - emergency services rush to scene as man, 90, hit by car

Emergency services rushed to Hamilton town centre this morning after reports of an elderly man being hit by a car.

Paramedics and police were on the scene at around 9.30am after he was struck by a vehicle at the pedestrian crossing on Leechlee Road.

The 90-year-old man was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, the Hamilton Advertiser reports.

Police say enquiries are still ongoing as to what happened.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "Around 9.30am on Friday, November 13, officers received a report of a pedestrian being hit by a car on Leechlee Road, Hamilton.

“A 90-year-old man was taken by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment to serious injuries.

“Enquiries remain ongoing.”
