Hamilton confirm positive coronavirus test ahead of Premiership clash with Hibs

Hamilton Academical have confirmed one individual has tested positive for coronavirus ahead of the clash with Hibernian.

The Easter Road side are due to host Brian Rice's men on Friday evening, however it is understood they will be without a first team player for that game following the return of a positive result.

Training was reportedly cancelled on Tuesday, but the rest of the first team squad returned to their pre-match preparations on Wednesday morning.

It comes after four players missed the 2-1 defeat at Kilmarnock as they took precautionary measures over potential exposure to individuals who may have contracted the virus.

Those included defender Lee Hodson, the roommate of St Mirren goalkeeper Jak Alnwick, who also missed a game against Hibs after testing positive for the condition.

A short statement posted on the club's website read: "The club can confirm one individual has produced a positive result from Monday’s COVID-19 testing.

"This individual is now isolating as per Scottish Government and JRG guidelines."
