Hamilton boxer Kevin Duris eyes title tilt after months out injured

Hamilton boxer Kevin Duris has set his sights on a British title fight in November, should he win his first fight in nearly a year.

A bad shoulder injury followed by a broken ankle while playing football has seen the middleweight out of action since November.

But promoter Francis Gilluley has lined Kevin up with a bout at his Fight Club: Back to the Future event at the Alona Hotel on Saturday, and Duris intends to make the most of it.

He said: “Francis says I’ll get a British title shot in November if I win. That would be good, that’s what it’s all about, winning titles.

“I still enjoy boxing, and I’m getting plenty of sparring. It’s a way of life for me now.

“I’ve been out since last November. I had a bad shoulder injury, got back from that, then got the broken ankle playing football, so it has been some hassle, but I’m ready for it.”
