Hamilton boxer Jordan Grant wins on professional debut

Hamilton light-heavyweight Jordan Grant tasted victory on his professional debut, after a dominant performance at Glasgow’s Crowne Plaza.

The 22-year-old went the distance and won convincingly on a points decision, outscoring English opponent Andy Bishop in every round.

Backed by a noisy army of Lanarkshire fans who had made the journey to Glasgow for the Pugilism at the Plaza event, Grant is now looking forward to his second pro bout.

Jordan made his professional debut from a background of ‘white collar’ boxing, having enjoyed around 30 fights on that circuit.

He is now signed to Kynoch Boxing, the largest stable of professional boxers in Scotland.

Manager Sam Kynoch, of Kynoch Boxing Promotions, said: “It was a great start to Jordan’s professional career.

“His style is very aggressive and fan-friendly, so there is no doubt his fans will be entertained as his career progresses.”

Trainer Gerry Higgins commented: “Jordan boxed really well against a more experienced opponent, who was also a southpaw, to make things even more tricky for his debut, but he handled it well.

“Jordan has made a good start to his professional boxing career, and if he trains as hard as he did for his debut for all his fights, then he will have a bright future in the sport.”
