Hamilton boxer Chloe Bodwick impresses in defeat on her fight return

Hamilton boxer Chloe Bodwick was narrowly defeated on her return to boxing earlier this month.

The 15-year-old was in Scunthorpe to face English internationalist Jayne Banderas, and although she lost, the exciting bout was so impressive that it was awarded ‘fight of the night’ honours.

Chloe recently joined Durie’s Amateur Boxing Gym in Rutherglen, and head coach Archie Durie said: “Chloe wanted so much to win this contest, with it being her first fight for the club, and to get us off to a winning start at the first contest of the season.

“But when you are boxing in a different country, you really have to win the rounds convincingly, and the Crowle ABC England internationalist Banderas was a good lass.

“She kept the rounds close, looking to steal them on the score-cards at the end.”

Chloe will have a chance to get a win under her belt next month, and exact revenge on Banderas.

Archie said: “Chloe is fighting the same girl in a return bout on our home show on Saturday, October 26, in the King’s Park Hotel.

“She knows she can beat her – Chloe has a great attitude and will come back stronger from this defeat.

“She did herself and the club proud.”
