Hamilton boss joy for surprise top scorer Hakeem Odoffin after Dundee United leveller

Hamilton boss Brian Rice has heaped praise on defender Hakeem Odoffin after he netted his third goal of the season against Dundee United.

Lawrence Shankland has out United ahead before a powerful header by the Odoffin secured a point.

It was the third goal of the season for the former Livingston defender and Rice was delighted with the contribution of the summer signing.

He said: “There is only one way to score goals like that and you need to put your body on the line.

“He played for a club, Livingston, where they do that.

“It’s brilliant for the boy. He hadn’t scored at first-team level before he came here and I’m delighted for him.”

After an even game the New Douglas Park gaffer was satisfied with a point.

“A draw is probably a fair result,” he added.

“When you come in on a Saturday and you’ve moved up the league that’s what you want, that’s the aim.

“I never look to far ahead, but the energy the players show is demanded here.”
