Hamilton boss Brian Rice says his players will 'run through brick walls'

Hamilton boss Brian Rice says his players are ready to run through a brick wall for the cause, after thumping Motherwell 4-1 at Fir Park.

Bruce Anderson's first goal for the club was added to by a Ross Callachan penalty and a Marios Ogkmpoe strike, with David Moyo adding a fourth in the second half.

Mark O'Hara pulled a goal back for the hosts, who were reduced to 10 men at 1-0 as Stephen O'Donnell was shown a straight red card for a foul on Callachan.

Rice was pleased with his lot, but unhappy that they conceded at all.

He said: "The way we played is how we train, everybody at it all the time, because I don't allow them to slacken.

"They're giving me everything, they're giving the club everything.

"I have a group of boys in there who will run through a brick wall for the red and white top.

"I can't ask for any more than that."

Rice added: "I'm disappointed to lose a goal, I don't think we deserved to lose a goal, but I couldn't ask any more from the boys.

"I challenged them to try and reproduce what they produced last Sunday, and to have a go, to go two up top and have a go, and I think they responded magnificently.

"I'm on their back because I want what's best for them, but we will enjoy that today.

"Some of the football was terrific and it's not often you'd say that about Hamilton.

"It's usually the other team 'didn't turn up' or they went down to 10 men, or something, but I don't think anybody can take anything away from us today.

Rice told his players to enjoy the win (SNS Group)

"It's as good as we've played, passing the ball, but I thought every aspect of our game was really good today.

"There's never been a lack of belief, I've got 100 per cent belief on the lads there. I know I have a young squad, I know I have some really experienced players, but you sometimes get a feeling, and I can sense it."

Rice hopes to continue that when Hamilton travel to St Mirren on Wednesday night.

He said: "The biggest game of the season is the next one, I've said that to them, and let's get ready for Wednesday. I know I will be."
