Hamilton beauty salon set ablaze as police launch investigation

An investigation has been launched by police after a blaze at a Hamilton beauty salon.

Police and firefighters were seen at Cece Beauty Salon after receiving the report on Sunday morning – with the shop clearly damaged by fire and smoke.

The Bothwell Road shop has been a target for trouble in recent times and saw a thug suffer serious burns in a previous fire attack in March 2020.

Alexander Bill previously claimed he was paid “a small sum of money” to torch the business and admitted wilful fireraising when he appeared at court in November, Lanarkshire Live reports.

There is nothing to suggest he was involved in this incident.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "Around 2.15am on Sunday, 20 February, officers were called to a report of a fire at a shop on Bothwell Road, Hamilton.

"Officers are at the scene and enquiries are ongoing."

Anyone with any information in relation to the incident is asked to contact police on 101.

Information can be left anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
