Hamilton actress lands top role in panto at Eastwood Park Theatre

A rising star from Hamilton has landed a leading role in a pantomime.

Leading lady Ava Anderson is set to perform to thousands of theatre goers this December as Cinderella.

The 18-year-old will take to the stage in Eastwood Park Theatre’s all-singing, all-dancing production.

Ava secured a place at the Glasgow Academy of Musical Theatre & Arts (GAMTA) aged just 14, and has loved every minute of her training.

Now in her second year of GAMTA Pro course, she is studying a BA in Musical Theatre and is set to graduate in 2021.

No stranger to musical theatre, Ava most recently played the role of the Fairy Godmother in GAMTA’s production of The Wiz at Citizens Theatre in 2018 – and is naturally delighted to now be on the receiving end of the magic in Cinderella.

The teenager told the Advertiser: “I auditioned on the Wednesday, was told I was successful on Saturday and on the Sunday I went along to Eastwood Park Theatre in a Cinderella ballgown for a ‘Selfies with Cinders’ event and had my picture taken with lots of little princesses and Prince Charmings.

“I have been at GAMTA since I was 14 and played the Fairy Godmother in The Wiz at the Citizens Theatre last year.

“I love singing, acting, dancing and audience interaction so I can’t wait to get the panto rehearsals underway – it’s going to be a brilliant show.”

Tickets for Cinderella at Renfrewshire’s Eastwood Park Theatre are £15 standard and £45 for a family panto pass. Go to www.eastwoodparktheatre.co.uk/boxoffice for more details.
