Hamilton Accies star warns Ayr United they're looking for revenge

Reegan Mimnaugh says Hamilton are gunning for revenge at Ayr United on Friday night, after the Honest Men beat then 2-0 at New Douglas Park back in September.

And he says Stuart Taylor’s side go into the Somerset Park clash full of confidence after beating Dunfermline 1-0 last weekend.

Mimnaugh says Accies cut out some of the mistakes that had been costing them dearly in recent weeks, got their rewards for how they have been playing, and the three points against the Pars have given them a major boost.

The 19-year-old midfielder said: “We want revenge. We obviously don’t like getting beat, but we’ll go into that game on Friday night with a bit of confidence after Saturday’s result, and hopefully get the three points.

“It’s all about how we play, and then we take that into consideration when the game comes, see how they play.

“But we’ve all been there and done it [in the Premiership], so we just need to take it as it comes.”

Mimnaugh added: “It was a good result on Saturday. We had to go into that game and win, to pick up points, but we’ve been unlucky in the last few weeks, we’ve been playing well, and it’s those wee margins that mean we have been losing games.

“But on Saturday there I knew we were going to win.

“I didn’t ever think we were going to lose that game, and the team will take that confidence after that win into Friday now.

“It was brilliant, everybody was full of confidence, you could see that even in training this week.

“Everybody’s been flying, everyone’s been full of confidence, and it has been good.

“We’ve been unlucky, it’s fine margins that have been costing us games, but at the weekend there we did well, cut all that out, and showed some good character in the end.”

Mimnaugh reckons he can see the Championship splitting almost into two groups of five, and says it’s important for Accies to be in the top half of that.

He said: “You know what this league is like, every game in this league is tough, every team can beat everybody.

“It goes up and down, so if we pick up back-to-back wins then that will be great and we can take it into the next game.

“It’s important to be in the top half of the table, you always want to be in the play-offs, especially when you come down, because you want to go back up and play in the Premiership.”
