Hamilton Accies snap up English left-back as Brian Rice rebuilds squad

Hamilton Accies head coach Brian Rice has hailed Johnny Hunt's character after signing the left-back for the start of the new season.

Liverpool-born Hunt (28) came through the Wrexham youth academy, and has also played for Cambridge, Chester and Mansfield Town.

Hunt, who was released by Stevenage at the end of last season, has been selected for England 'C' level (non-league).

Rice told the club's website: "I'm delighted to sign Johnny; he's a player I have watched a few times and I know he is the type of player and character that will do well here.

"He has that never quit attitude that I look for in my players, and with his experience of playing south of the border I feel this could be a great move for him."

Hunt told AcciesTV: "I am really happy. Once I knew the club was interested, I wanted to get the deal done as soon as possib;e, so I could meet the squad and get ready for the season that lies ahead."
