Hamilton Accies reveal three Covid-19 cases as club shut down for deep clean

Hamilton Accies have recorded three positive Covid-19 cases in their latest round of testing.

The Lanarkshire club are set to shut down the Fountain of Youth Stadium for 24 hours on Tuesday for a deep clean.

The three individuals involved will now self-isolate for 10 days, as per the Scottish Government's coronavirus guidelines.

A further round of testing will take place later in the week, with Brian Rice 's side set to face Kilmarnock at Rugby Park on Saturday.

A club statement said: " Hamilton Academical FC can confirm three positive COVID-19 test results. Those affected will now self-isolate in line with Scottish Government & JRG guidelines for 10 days.

"As a precaution, first-team & academy operations have been suspended for today whilst we deep clean the building.

"We will return to normal business tomorrow with further tests planned for all players & staff."

Defender Lee Hodson is already under a fortnight's quarantine after close contact with flatmate and St Mirren keeper Jak Alnwick, who tested positive.

Hodson returned a negative test last Monday but must follow the isolation protocol due to the virus' 14-day incubation period.
