Hamilton Accies release Ross Cunningham after 11 years at the club

Hamilton Accies have released youngster Ross Cunningham after 11 years at New Douglas Park.

The 22-year-old rose through the ranks after joining the club in 2009 and was the club's joint top scorer last season with seven goals.

He went out on loan to Clyde in January but his chances have become limited under Brian Rice.

Cunningham has failed to feature for the club this season and now heads for pastures new.

A statement from Accies read: "Midfield attacker Ross Cunningham, 22, has moved on from the club after 11 years with us.

"Starting off in our U10s and signing his first youth form in July 2009, he progressed through all Accies Academy levels, making his first team debut in the Premiership at Partick Thistle in May 2016.

"Ross went on to make 29 appearances, scoring seven goals (all last season), and finished joint top scorer in 2019-20 before the season finished early.

"He had previously had a couple of loan spells with Forfar Athletic and Clyde.

"He is one of a handful of players to have played for us at every level from U11s to first team / Premiership.

"Ross departs with our thanks for his long time with us, and our very best wishes for the future."
