Hamilton Accies Over-35s take league title after massive win over Motherwell

Hamilton Accies Over-35s have set their sights on a treble triumph in their first season in the game.

The over-age team won the Football Central 35s League with a 6-0 win over their Motherwell counterparts at Dalziel Park on Friday evening, and they are involved in two other cups, including a Scottish Cup quarter-final clash with EKYM at the end of October.

Former Inverness and Dunfermline striker Andy Barrowman was among the goals – which were all scored in the first half – as was Stevie Murray and Jamie Dunbar.

Players on their roster include former Hamilton and Celtic midfielder Massimo Donati, who is currently assistant manager at Kilmarnock.

Celebrity player James Drummond, who helped start the team, said: “We’re looking at a treble and if we achieve that it will be unbelievable.

“When we joined this league we had no idea how competitive it would be – more than amateur leagues I’ve played in, and it has really helped everybody, big time.

"Some of them were carrying some timber, but they're up and down the park for the whole 90 minutes now.

"I started the team with my best pal Nicky Moore, who is the manager. We both have to thank Hamilton Accies chief executive Colin McGowan and the club in general for all of the help they have given us."

Hamilton Accies Over-35s are always on the look-out for players. If you're interested find James Drummond on Facebook or Instagram.
