Hamilton Accies must be on it mentally and physically to handle Queen of the South test, says boss Taylor

Hamilton travel to Queen of the South on Saturday in search of their first Championship win - and boss Stuart Taylor has warned his players they'll need to be at top of their game to end their barren run.

It will be new boss Taylor's first match in charge, although he did appear in the dugout for the final 15 minutes of last week's 2-0 defeat at home to Kilmarnock after watching from the stand as caretakers Guillaume Beuzelin and George Cairns held the reins.

And if Accies are to pick up victory in their fourth match of the campaign, Taylor says it will be a tough task against Allan Johnston's men in Dumfries.

He said: "I've watched their last couple of games, I know the manager well and I know that this season they've started really well.

"They've got really good players, they are well organised, they can mix up their game, so I know the mentality they have as a group.

"They are a team that will be up there or thereabouts, so it's one we need to be really switched on for and focused on.

"We need to be really strong in our approach and be tough enough to deal with the game, not just mentally, but physically as well."

A SPFL Trust Trophy clash with Hearts B follows on Tuesday night before the international break next weekend and he added: "Games are coming thick and fast, which is great.

"After that we've got a little break where we can do more work on the training ground."
