Hamilton Accies make ex-Dundee United winger their sixth summer signing

Justin Johnson has joined Hamilton Accies on a one-year deal to become Brian Rice's sixth summer signing.

The 23-year-old, who last featured for Cypriot side Akritas Chlorakas, could make his debut in Saturday's Premiership clash at home to Ross County.

And the former Dundee United winger is delighted to link up with fellow Mancunian Tunde Owolabi, who signed last week from non-league outfit FC United of Manchester where both men played at youth level.

After signing up at New Douglas Park following a successful spell on trial, Johnson said: "We’re both from Manchester and I played with him [Owolabi] at youth level, so I’m very much familiar with him and it’s good to know we’re on this journey together.

"The Hamilton squad, we are one family. Everyone has their own contribution but one thing everyone does is work hard for the club, we all motivate each other to do good and that’s what the manager asks for every week.

"Since arriving at Hamilton, I’ve felt welcome at this club and now everything is finally sorted after waiting.

"I’m very excited and can’t wait to get started."

Dutch-born Johnson spent two seasons at Tannadice between 2015-2017 but only made five appearances for Dundee United.

He joins Owolabi, Callum Smith, Ross Callachan, Charlie Trafford and Hakeem Odoffin among the club's new recruits for the 2020/21 campaign.

Accies will be hoping to bounce back on Saturday following a 5-1 defeat to Celtic in their season opener on Sunday.
