Hamilton Accies kid says they're working hard to get ahead in games

Ellis Brown says Hamilton Accies are working hard to change they way they’re playing and get on the front-foot in games.

And the 20-year-old is focused on trying to stay in the team and get a run of games, after making his first start in the 4-4 draw at home to Cove Rangers on Saturday.

Brown signed from Boreham Wood in January, but has featured only five times this season ahead of the Championship fightback at New Douglas Park.

He says while Accies are pleased to take a point, they have spoken about how they can be ahead in games.

Brown said: “I made my first start and I was so pleased, because I’ve been working so hard on and off the park, and it has paid off.

“I’m trying to focus on how I can stay in the team, affect the game going forward, but also helping the team in defence.

“I picked a dramatic game, 4-4! The boys dug in well and to come back from 4-1 shows we’ve got a lot of character and we’re willing to do well for the team.

“The boys usually talk about the game during the week, about how we can start on the front foot and maybe change certain things in our game, and stuff like that.

“We’re all close together, and we try to help each other out as much as we can.”

Brown was aware of the fans’ unease after going 4-1 down, but says it’s up to Accies to stop that from happening.

“It’s important to get the fans back onside, they’re like the 12th man, and it’s important to get the club back up to their standards and where we should be,” he said.
