Hamilton Accies boss Stuart Taylor denies that a three-games-in seven-days schedule next week could be season-defining, but says last night's 6-1 hammering by Partick Thistle was a reality check.
Accies have a week to prepare for trips to Kilmarnock and Morton, either side of a midweek visit by Queen of the South, but do so on the back of one of their heaviest defeats for some time.
While Accies hadn't threatened much in the first half, Thistle took a slender lead into the interval through Zak Rudden's early goal, but he and Brian Graham had the Jags 3-0 up by 64 minutes.
Graham then bagged his second, before Scott Tiffoney and Connor Murray had Ian McCall's side 6-0 up, before sub David Moyo added a consolation in the last minute for Accies.
While Taylor says the trio of games are important, he says it won't declare anything at this early stage.
He said: "I think every game is important, whether we have one game a week, two games a week or three games a week.
"Every game is important, every week is important, and it's certainly not going to define the bigger picture of the longer term and the full season.
"We're still in October, there's a long way to go and we're still working on things. I've always said it that we've got a lot of work to do.
"Everybody was talking about how well the players had been playing - and they were playing well - so I think it's important not to be too excessive on things, in terms of where we are.
"We've had a heavy defeat, we've had a really poor performance, and we'll be working on it.
"It's a reality check, it might be one where we realise where we are."
Taylor added: "I've never said we're the complete article, I've never once said anything like that, so it's one of those ones where we'll continue to work, and make sure that if we do have a bad day at the office then there are certain ways to lose a game and it's as simple as that.
"I don't think any team is going to go on a run where they're going to win every single game of the season, but it's the manner of how we play and how we work."
