Hamilton Accies flop forced into embarrassing U-turn after Brian Rice blast

Adrian Beck has backtracked on comments made to a German newspaper where he unleashed an explosive rant on Hamilton Accies and Brian Rice.

The midfielder made just six appearances while on loan at New Douglas Park from Belgian outfit Union Saint-Gilloise and failed to help the club win a single game.

The 22-year-old, now with German fourth-tier side SSV Ulm, was quoted in newspaper Stimme dubbing the Scottish game as "only high and wide balls" that was "not my idea of football".

A strange rant on Rice, who bravely came forward with a gambling addiction and was suspended by the SFA, was also published where Beck claimed in Germany the gaffer would have been sacked.

However, in messages sent over social media to 'Only Accies' podcast host Ben Paterson and shared with Lanarkshire Live Sport the German stated his words had been taken out of context.

He said: "It is obvious that my time at Hamilton was not the most successful one, but nevertheless I am very thankful for my experiences there and I appreciate the club and fans giving me a chance to play in Scotland."

He also backtracked on his jibe at Brian Rice adding: "I got to know him as a very understanding and nice person, not only as a coach but as a human being.

"I only wish him all the best to get through his hard times, and I also wish Accies all the best."

He added: "I want to apologise and wish you all the best for the future."
