Hamilton Accies fear Ryan Fulton is out for season after freak ice accident

Hamilton boss Brian Rice fears Ryan Fulton could be missing for the rest of the season after sustaining a freak injury.

The 24 year-old goalkeeper slipped on an icy surface outside his house and Accies fear that the former Liverpool man has dislocated his knee.

It's another massive blow for Hamilton after a season disrupted by serious injuries and manager Rice admits it's not good news.

"It is a massive, massive blow," Rice said. "It was just a freak injury, Ryan has slipped on ice outside his house on Monday.

“He is going for a scan later this week but it looks like his season could be over.

“Ryan is distraught and we are distraught for Ryan. It was just a freak accident.”

In Fulton's absence, Kyle Gourlay or Ryan Scully will deputise for the remainder of the season.

Gourlay has featured for Accies this season and the 22 year-old is likely to claim a starting berth for the visit of Dundee United on Saturday.

Although Fulton's injury is a massive blow, Hamilton boss Rice has complete faith in Gourlay and Scully to step up when required.

He said: "It is a massive blow for us but the good thing is we have two good goalkeepers in Kyle Gourlay and Ryan Scully behind Ryan.

“Kyle has shown what a good goalkeeper when he came in for Ryan previously.

“One of them will step up and I know they will do well for us.

“The players and all the coaching staff have every faith in them.”
