Hamilton Accies bring women's side into full club set-up

Hamilton Accies have fully integrated their women's team into the overall club set-up at New Douglas Park.

The move will cement and improve the infrastructure around the women's side, as they compete in Scotland's top flight this season, and it will also see significant investment in resources, which will work to the club's benefit.

Accies are also in the stages of planning joint commercial ventures and opportunities, which will be hugely beneficial to the club as a whole.

Chief executive Colin McGowan said: "We are thoroughly delighted to see the full integration of both our fantastic men’s and women’s football teams, moving forward.

"We have watched with great pride the fantastic and staggering growth of the women’s game in Scotland for quite some time.

"We are extremely proud to have our women’s side competing in Scotland’s top-flight this year. "

Hamilton Accies Women's secretary Robert Watson said: "I am really excited by the developments of the last few weeks.

"We have been growing our partnership together for several years and this integration is the next step in that fantastic relationship.

"I would like to thank [head of youth academy] George Cairns and Colin McGowan for their incredible support and determination to continuing to support our work over the last several years.

"This integration allows us to build strong foundations and infrastructure but also enables us to do our part for the football club.

"This is a fantastic club with a fantastic reputation across Britain and we are delighted to be a part of that."

Hamilton Accies Women host Rangers in the SWPL1 this Sunday, as Gary Doctor's side bid to make it two wins in as many games, while the Glasgow giants kick off their own campaign.

Tickets cost £5 for adults and £3 for concessions, kick-off is at 4pm and the match will be streamed on BBC Sport Scotland's website.
