Hamilton Accies boss' scan fears over latest injured star

Hamilton Accies boss Stuart Taylor fears that midfield general Scott Martin could be out for weeks with a hamstring tear.

Taylor is waiting on a scan today to learn the extent of the former Hibs star's injury, but Martin looked anguished when he limped off 65 minutes into Friday night's 1-1 draw at Ayr United.

Defender Jamie Hamilton was also withdrawn in 83 minutes after feeling his hamstring, but Taylor is more optimistic about his chances of making the clash at Championship leaders Inverness Caledonian Thistle on Saturday.

Accies haven't had injury problems to seek this season, and Taylor said: "Scotty Martin came off the other night injured, we've got Jamie Hamilton who came off in the game feeling his hamstring again, so we have got injuries but we just need to make sure that we respond well to that.

"We're waiting for a result coming back from Scotty Martin, from his hamstring, so we'll see where we go after that.

"I suppose there is a list of them who are like that, and Scotty Martin is the same; Shaun Want was injured for a spell when I came in at first - there are quite a few of them."

Taylor says his side will need to be at their best against Billy Dodds' side, who hammered Morton 6-1 on Saturday, and will have extra motivation because Accies turned them over 2-1 back in October, despite Reegan Mimnaugh's red card.

Taylor said: "We had a good result against them the last time, under difficult circumstances because we were down to 10 men.

"It's another tough game we've got; they'll have an extra motivation to it, if you want to call it that, from the fact that we were the first to beat them this season and they had only lost one or two goals up to that point, so there will be that motivation for them.

"But they're a really good side, hence the reason why they're top of the league.

"They've got loads of experience in their team, so it's going to be a really difficult game."

Taylor says the weight of expectation might be on Caley Thistle to take three points, but Accies have their own standards to try and reach.

He said: "I guess you can call it 'underdogs' and all that sort of thing, but we put the pressure on ourselves in terms of how we want to play, how we want to do things, and we go into every single game to get three points, so it will be no different, going into this game.

"We knew, down here, that it was going to be a difficult game and it's going to be even tougher up there.

"They're a very good side, they've had incredible results and if you look at last week they scored six.

"They have goals all over their team, they've got an experienced back four with probably over 1000 games between the four of them, so we know exactly how tough a game it's going to be.

"We go into every game with confidence, with a game-plan for that given game, and we know what we want to go and do, so it's just a case of making sure we execute it.

"But we'll go into the game, looking forward to it."
