Hamilton Accies boss provides Jamie Hamilton update with another defender ruled out for Scottish Cup clash

Accies boss Stuart Taylor has welcomed defender Jamie Hamilton back into the squad for full training after suffering chest pains earlier this month.

The 19-year-old has undergone a series of tests on his heart over the past few weeks and was given the all-clear to join his team-mates for this morning's training session ahead of Saturday's Scottish Cup tie with Auchinleck Talbot.

However, it is expected he won't feature for Accies this weekend.

Taylor explained: "Jamie did another series of tests yesterday and he's come back in to train with the lads today.

"Everything appears to be really positive.

"We have to bring him back on a rehabilitation programme and make sure he keeps getting fitter and stronger, so I think Saturday might just be a little bit too soon."

Meanwhile, Accies will be without young defender Adam McGowan after the 17-year-old picked up an injury in training.

"The only disappointment this week is that wee Adam McGowan went down in training yesterday so hopefully that's not going to be a bad one," said Taylor.

"He's part of our development programme where we are trying to get him in around the first team squad as much as possible.

"We are hoping he's not going to be out for too long."

Taylor remains without an assistant manager following Guillaume Beuzelin's exit on Saturday, following a seven-year spell at New Douglas Park.

The club do have a list of candidates but it seems likely there won't be a new member of the coaching team on board until after Saturday's cup clash.

An appointment is not imminent with Taylor keen to ensure he selects the right person for the job.

He said: "We are looking at the type of character and personality that need to work at this football club and improve us.

"There's certain criteria that I would like and we are narrowing those names down.

"We want that done as soon as possible really, but we need to make sure we make the right decision on it.

"Hopefully over the next couple of days we should start looking at what type of names we are looking at."
