Hamilton Accies boss provides deadline day update as he says 'I'll be sitting by the phone'

Hamilton Accies boss Stuart Taylor admits he's not expecting any transfers in or out at New Douglas Park today - but he'll be sitting by his phone just in case.

Accies have made four new signings in this window so far with the arrivals of defenders Steve Lawson and Dan O'Reilly on permanent deals, along with wide man Ellis Brown, while winger Kai Kennedy has joined from Rangers on loan.

But it looks highly unlikely that will stretch to five before the transfer deadline at 11pm, although Accies do still have the option to bring in domestic loans until February 28.

Taylor told Lanarkshire Live Sport this afternoon: "There's nothing happening at this moment in time with anything.

"There's no movement.

"Something might come up later on. It is the last day of the transfer window and there's last minute moves.

"You can always say there is a possibility, no matter what club you are at.

"There's always someone who will give you a phone call and say we can do this for you, but there's nothing happening at the moment.

"I don't believe in spur of the moment, lastminute.com kind of things.

"I think you've got to have a strategy and things in place.

"You should always know where you need to strengthen in the team and when I came in we were a little bit unbalanced.

"Getting wide players in was really good. We didn't have a right-back either, so it was about strengthening in key areas.

"We look to the summer now for the next transfer window.

"But you just never know what's round the corner in football.

"I'll sit by my phone and see what happens."

Fans have been crying out for a striker to come in to assist the likes of Andy Ryan and David Moyo, but Taylor insists he's happy with his business this month.

He added: "I think we've got four in, which is a good amount.

Ben Stirling has gone out on loan in this window (Hamilton Academical Football Club)

"I'd say a big thank you to the owners and the directors because I think getting four done is really good considering we've only had a couple going out, with Ben Stirling [on loan to Edinburgh City] and Luke Matheson as well.

"But we have lost out on deals where players have opted to go elsewhere and there's nothing we can do about that.

"The four in are good players and some have shown that already. I think that's positive."
