Hamilton Accies boss Brian Rice left frustrated after derby draw

Hamilton boss Brian Rice was frustrated not to win the derby match with Motherwell, but said his players did everything they could with what they had available.

The Accies head coach said David Templeton alone had "five or six chances" but pointed out that he was missing four key forwards in the game.

Motherwell were reduced to 10 men late in the first half as Chris Long received two yellow cards, but Hamilton were unable to break down their fierce rivals.

Rice said: "We were missing more than a couple of strikers. You saw my team, you saw my bench - it was decimated, that's all I've got available.

"Scott McMann called off ill this morning, our attacking players were out in George Oakley, Steve Davies, Andy Dales and Mickel Miller, and we tried everything we could with what we had available. The boys responded brilliantly, because that was all we had."

Rice added: "We were the better team overall, we had loads of possession, got into good areas, but with the final thing we do with the ball, the quality wasn't there, especially from wide areas. Our crossing was pretty poor.

"David Templeton had five or six shots at goal and normally David will score at least one of them, so I'm frustrated by that.

"I'm just frustrated because I thought we did enough to win the game."
