Hamilton Accies boss Brian Rice lambasts referees amid paranoia claim

Furious Brian Rice slammed officials after Hamilton lost to St Mirren in the Scottish Cup.

The Hamilton manager believes his side fail to get the same decisions that bigger teams receive and he revealed that his frustrations fall on deaf ears.

The 57 year-old boss has made numerous calls to Crawford Allan, head of refereeing at the SFA, but Rice insists that referee's don't take Hamilton seriously.

“I’m angry as we are getting nothing. I’m fed up phoning Crawford Allan and getting shoved to the side because we are only Hamilton, that’s what’s happening.

“Am I paranoid?

‘What would I like him to do? I would like him to take us seriously. To give us a fair crack of the whip just like everybody else - because we are not getting a fair crack of the whip. I don’t care what anybody says.

‘I know. I have been in football 40-odd years. I know when I am getting shafted. Well, it’s not me getting shafted, it’s my players," Rice added.

Hamilton were incensed that they weren't awarded a penalty when Ronan Hughes appeared to be pushed in the box during the opening ten minutes.

Referee Euan Anderson was unmoved and waived away Hughes' appeal but Rice claimed that Anderson was guilty of inconsistent officiating.

“Don’t ask me about the penalty as I don’t know what a penalty is these days. I know that every time somebody falls down inside our box it’s a penalty.

“I saw the same referee not give a penalty at Dumbarton but gave a penalty here for less.

Accies responded impressively to falling behind to Jamie McGrath's opener but they couldn't capitalise on sustained pressure by equalising.

David Moyo missed a glorious opportunity to equalise at the start of the second half and Rice felt the score line flattered St Mirren.

He said: “It’s never a 3-0 game, never in one million years. For the first 30 minutes St Mirren were the better team, the rest of it we dominated.

"You will never write that because we are Hamilton, that’s my opinion. I want my boys to get credit, it was never a 30 game, never in one million years but we are getting no credit for nothing. That’s the frustration as we gave it everything.
