Hamilton boss Brian Rice was left delighted with his side’s performance as they overcame a stern challenge against League One Falkirk.
Ronan Hughes’ penalty and Jamie Hamilton's late header cancelled out Aidan Nesbitt’s early second-half strike as Accies topped Group E in the Premier Sports Cup.
Overall, it was a well-deserved win for the New Douglas Park side, who could’ve been two or three goals ahead at the break had they been more clinical in front of goal.
Rice also admitted that he’s looking to get two or three more new signings in before the League Opener in two weeks’ time.
The 57-year-old said: “We’ve got six points after two games so we’re delighted. The objective is to win the group and we’re top at the minute after two tough away games.
"It’s an important cup and one we’re taking seriously. We are not treating it lightly.
“It was a travesty that we ended up going one-nil down but we showed a great amount of character to bounce back and get a well-deserved win.
Hamilton are set to welcome over 500 fans to New Douglas Park for the first time since March 2020 on Tuesday when they face Ayr United and the Hamilton manager said that everyone’s looking forward to the return of the Accies faithful.

He said: “We all want fans everywhere we go, whether than home or away because without fans you’ve not got anything.
"Fair play to the Falkirk fans today, they brought a good atmosphere to play in and we can’t wait to have Accies fans back on Tuesday to give us the backing we need.
On signings, Rice continued: “I counted four good chances in the first-half and we spoke all week about being ruthless as if you’re not it keeps teams in games and gives them a lift.
"I’m looking to get two or three new players in throughout the next week or so.”
