Hamilton Accies being underdogs suits us, says head coach Brian Rice

Hamilton going into the clash with Hearts at Tynecastle as underdogs suits them fine, says head coach Brian Rice.

Accies will attempt to bounce back from their 3-1 defeat at home to Motherwell by taking points from the Edinburgh side, and Rice admits his side will never be favourites in the Premiership.

He said: “Every game is a hard one for Hamilton, always has been. There are four or five teams in this league that you wouldn’t want to be facing 11 v 10, because they’ve got very good technical players, and Motherwell kept the ball off of us very well. They’re a good team.

“We’re disappointed that we lost the match, and deservedly so – let’s not make any qualms about that – but I can’t be too critical of the players, they gave it everything they’ve got.

“I don’t think you can come up with a team in this league that we’re favourites to beat. It’s something we’re used to, it’s something I try to use, the underdog tag all the time, and I think it’s a great motivator, but it will be very difficult at Tynecastle – as it always is.

“We know the threat that Hearts pose, but we had a look at them against Celtic on Sunday, and we’ll take it from there.”
