Hamilton Accies announce Ronan Hughes contract extension

Ronan Hughes has signed a one-year contract extension at Hamilton Academical.

The academy graduate made his debut for Accies as a 17 year-old in 2016 and he's developed into a regular member of Brian Rice's squad this season.

The 22 year-old has made 13 appearances for Hamilton during this campaign and he grabbed his first goals for the club with a double against St Johnstone from the bench in October.

Hughes is a popular member of the Accies squad and he is loving his time at the club.

He said: “I’ve been here since I was 9-years-old, I know what it takes to play here and I know the club inside and out.

“I really enjoy it here, the boys are brilliant, the backroom staff are good so I can’t see myself playing anywhere else.“

Hamilton boss Brian Rice was delighted with Hughes' new deal, adding: “It’s great to have Ronan’s services secured for next year.

"This season he has been an important member of our squad so to have him here for next season puts us in a stronger position.

"As a player, he is great to have around the squad and as an academy graduate he knows exactly what is expected at Hamilton.”
