Hamilton Accies ace Josh Mullin says they must get "streetwise" after letting another win slip

Hamilton Accies midfielder Josh Mullin insists their youthful side need to get "streetwise" after letting a win slip through their grasp in stoppage time for the second week running.

Andy Ryan's first half penalty had Accies on course for victory, but Thomas O'Brien popped up in the 91st minute to head home a deserved equaliser for the Lichties.

There was a sense of deja vu for Accies having conceded a 96th minute equaliser to Morton last weekend and they've taken two points from what they feel should have been six.

Accies have a squad packed full of academy youngsters and Mullin, as one of the experienced heads at 29, reckons they need to become masters of the dark arts and see games out.

The former Livingston and Albion Rovers man said: "It's a sore one to take.

"We were trying to right a wrong from last week but it's happened again, another equaliser in injury time.

"It's frustrating and something we are going to have to look at.

"Maybe we've got a young squad but we need to see games out because it's been two simple goals, balls into the box, that we've not dealt with.

"It's about being streetwise. We are a young team but we are a very good footballing team.

"I feel I'm at my best when I'm being vocal and that's what I always try and do.

"I always speak to them and it's nice when you get a bit back from them.

"It's a team game and I'll do my best to help them as much as I can, but it's just that wee bit of being streetwise and hopefully that comes over the next few weeks."

Accies took the lead when Colin Hamilton appeared to trip Ryan as he went to shoot and he dusted himself down to send Derek Gaston the wrong way from the spot after 16 minutes.

In the second half Accies were camped in their own half and a combination of Jamie Hamilton - who was later taken off suffering from chest pains - skipper Brian Easton, Luke Matheson and David Moyo all did their bit.

But Accies eventually cracked in the 91st minute when James Craigen crossed for O'Brien to head home.

And Mullin added: "It's very frustrating for us, the manager and the fans but we need to look at it because it's two weeks in a row now.

"He [manager Taylor] is not happy. We should be sitting here with six points from the last two games, but we've got two.

"We knew Arbroath were going to throw everything at it and they got their goal.

"I think we need to be a bit more ruthless in the way we see games out.

"I think there was a lot of wrong decision making from us in the second half and it's another one we are looking at, where it should have been three points. "
