Hamilton Accies 1 Kilmarnock 0: 10-man Accies earn vital last-gasp win in relegation scrap

Hamilton Accies moved out of the relegation after a last-gasp penalty from Marious Ogkmpoe earned victory.

The New Douglas Park outfit kept the game goalless despite Mickel Miller's red in the closing stages of the clash, and were awarded a spot kick as the striker Ogkmpoe was dragged down late in the clash.

The striker stepped up to net the winner after 89 minutes.

With St Mirren losing to Celtic, it means Accies are now just a point behind the Buddies and stay above rock bottom Hearts.

Accies pulled off one of the shocks of the season in midweek as they downed Steven Gerrard's men at Ibrox , with goalkeeper Luke Southwood one of the stars of the show.

The loanee was again in action when a looping ball found Chris Burke on the right flank but his low drive was well saved by the feet of the shot-stopper after three minutes.

Accies were almost gifted the opener as Stuart Findlay looked the head the ball back to Laurentiu Branescu but found home striker Marios Ogkmpoe, however the low shot was smothered one-on-one inside eight minutes.

Most of the early action was coming from cross balls, and a Lewis Smith chip found David Moyo in the centre of box, however the attacker sent his header over the bar after 17 minutes.

There was then a let off for the home side as Stephen Hendrie found Eamonn Brophy in acres of space in the six-yard box but his scuffed shot fell straight to Southwood's grateful gloves after 20 minutes.

With Jamie Hamilton and Blair Alston forced off in the first half for Mickel Miller and Will Collar through injury upset Accies rhythm and Killie enjoyed the majority of possession, without really testing Siuthwood.

After 65 minutes substitute David Templeton would jink his way through the Rugby Park defence, to slip through Lewis Smith who found Ogkmpoe in space. His first shot rebounded off the defence, and his second was brilliantly saved by Branescu.

A miscue by the visiting keeper saw Ogkmpoe beat the Juventus loanee to the ball, and with an open goal an outstretched Shaun Want hooked the ball over the bar after 70 minutes.

Kirk Broadfoot was found at the back post after 76 minutes and Reading loan kid Southwood again did well to keep the bullet header out of the net after 76 minutes.

Moments later Mickel Miller picked up a second yellow, having already went into the book for a foul on Stephen O'Donnell in the first period. He took down winger Burke and referee Willie Column was quick to brandish another yellow.

Ogkmpoe was chopped down in the box by Broadfoot but would dust himself down to claim the winner and help his side climb out of the relegation play-off spot.
