Hamilton Academical defender Jamie Hamilton is learning from experienced duo

Hamilton Accies youngster Jamie Hamilton admits that he is improving from playing alongside the experienced Brian Easton and Aaron Martin.

The trio have formed an impressive central defensive partnership and kept Scotland star Lawrence Shankland quiet whilst recording a clean sheet in the weekend draw against Dundee United.

Accies have kept an impressive three clean sheets in their last four games although Easton and Martin's absence was noticeable in the 2-0 defeat to Kilmarnock.

The academy graduate has shown excellent form in recent weeks and praised the experienced duo's influence, adding: "Playing alongside Aaron and Easty has helped me a lot, the experience they have got is different class.

"During a game they are always talking to me, helping me through games which gives me a lot of confidence.

"When I have the ball, I want to make something happen with it and get the team on the front foot I was able to do that.

"They were always communicating about knowing the right time to bring the ball forward and I think that understanding has helped me massively.”

The 18 year-old defender burst onto the scene last season, earning rave reviews and interest from German giants Wolfsburg and Bayern Leverkusen.

Hamilton also spent time on trial at English Premier League side Brighton but the youngster is focused on improving despite his positive performance against Dundee United.

He told the club's official website: "Although I felt I did well in the game there are areas I still want to improve. There was a couple of times I felt my positioning could have been better.

“That is something I need to learn from and being able to work with players like these in training will help me do that.

"We feel like no matter who comes in or drops out we are a hard team to break down. That is fantastic for us.

“We don’t want to concede and getting these clean sheets gives us the confidence to stop that from happening.”
