Shocking footage shows police van on fire in Halton Moor where youths 'launched bricks at officers'

A police van has been set on fire in what residents have described as a 'riot' in Halton Moor.

Dozens of police in riot gear have attended the scene on Ullswater Crescent, east Leeds, following reports of a large-scale disturbance.

Officers in the area have told people to stay back and put a large cordon in place on the estate.

According to locals, the van blaze was started at around 6pm this evening (September 19) and there have been reports of bricks being thrown at police.

Pictures from the scene show the flaming wreckage of the vehicle, which appears to be a CSI van.

Another video shows a large crowd of onlookers as huge plumes of black smoke billow from the car.

Other police vans later left the scene as they were chased by a number of youngsters. They have since returned to the area.

LeedsLive has contacted West Yorkshire Police and is awaiting a statement.
