Halton Council elections 2019 - as they happen

Voters are going to the polls for the 2019 Local Elections.

Right across our region people are casting their votes and deciding who they want to represent them in their local areas.

In Halton, which covers Runcorn and Widnes, there are just under a third of the 56 council seats available in this election.

Labour currently dominate the council, holding a whopping 52 of the 56 total seats.

But opposition parties will be hoping that some key issues, such as problems with the Mersey Gateway bridge and some recent planning decisions, could allow them to chip away at that majority.

Labour and the Conservatives have put forward a councillor for all 19 wards, while the Lib Dems have put forward nine councillors and the Green Party have put forward two.

We will be bringing you all the action, results and reaction from a busy night of elections.

You will also be able to see the Halton Borough Council results come in live with our special election tool.
